A bit of practice

Well, this day has just flown! I had to go to town and ended up being there for over 2 hours! I am looking for particular objects for my artwork and you know what? I have to order EVERYTHING that I was looking for, online!

And some shops didn’t even know what I am looking for! I know there is a bit of a language barrier, I speak English and so do they, but they call things by a different name here sometimes.

So those of you Americans that think everyone in the world knows what you are talking about…NO, THEY DON’T.

It’s just like when my adult children came to visit, my son and I were looking for those Shower Panels, you know, instead of using tiles in your bathroom. The shower panels are cheaper and keep the water off the walls.

So, we went to the DIY store and guess what? The guy didn’t even know what we were talking about! I was like “You know, panels in the shower … blah blah”…

So, guess what they are called here.  Are you ready? The shower panels are called MERMAID BOARDS!!!

And so, YEAH, my day was LIKE THAT today 🙁

Let me get back to my art, I went off on a tangent!

I decided to get some gritty paper for my pastels, just to try different textures.

THIS IS JUST A TEST, just so you know, this is NOT my normal art. Most of you that have been following me know how I paint, anyway, I grid my paper to keep it all in perspective. Anyway, so I think this will be really great to use, they have different textures. The paper I used for my last painting was pastel paper too but it was less texture but more than what I am used to.

I have loads of the heavyweight paper that I have used on COUNTLESS paintings, and it has served me well. But I would like to try different textures and move on.  So using this texture, it really eats up the pastels, but it sure is fun to use. The other paper I used was a lot of work. But THIS paper is so easy to cover. So next time I purchase pastels, if I am buying 3 whites or blacks, it might have to be 6. 🙂

The whole post is to give you inspiration about trying new and different ways to do your “thang”.

So, now, I have some new paper and let’s see how it will change the painting…. we will see how it goes.

Thanks for dropping by I appreciate you all!

Ciao! 🙂

  1. I love this face, so much emotion. I am actually going to try something new today… cross your fingers. lol

  2. I know how you feel, having lived in many “English” speaking countries. I now speak many languages … Queens English, Scottish, Irish (not Celtic), Australian, Canadian, American, Kiwi, etc. Don’t even let it cross your mind they are the same. Possibly similar roots (thats risque slang in Australian) but definitely not the same language. Words are not even spelled the same way.

I love all my Readers! Thank you for your kind comments :)
