This is Day 16 of the 30 day painting challenge. I have started to look at this challenge very differently. Instead of looking at the word “painting” as a noun, I am looking at it as a verb. How funny is that? I just thought of it and looked it up on the web and here…JUST THIS WEEK… was a post about it from “the art cafe”. Well, I think it’s kinda cool, and strange.
Anyway, so “Painting” can either be a verb or noun. The word to me, this month, is the verb version. I know, a lot of people refer to it as “30 paintings in 30 days”. I am taking the point of view as “30 day PAINTING challenge” … as.. 30 days of painting… NOT painting”S”.
OK, now that THAT is as clear as mud… 🙂
Today I went to Stratford for a day of painting. This was the first time they had a day just to paint, without having a proper workshop. Michael Culverwell is the President of the Stratford upon Avon Art Society. And he set up the still life for us today. I have to tell you, this was my FIRST still life painting.
I took some pics for you:
This is the still life set up.
Here, I am walking around, taking pics, and visiting with people, introducing myself. I really and truly did not want to start. I was so intimidated with all the artists around.
OK…. Here is the dreaded blank paper…
Started drawing…
Wow, it took a long time to draw it, but I was happy how it started taking shape.
I had to keep stepping away to make sure it looked how I wanted it to.
I’m very pleased how it turned out! And a bit shocked as this was my very first still life! 🙂
I had to take a Selfie with my painting. 🙂
I named it “Trail Blazer” but that’s just a temporary name.
I hope you enjoyed my story from today, it was a fab day. I was really glad I did it. I have just been conquering my fears lately, taking a workshop, meeting new artists, doing public demos (even on Periscope). And of course, posting my life online for the whole world to see.
Tomorrow is SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION SUNDAY. I will be posting the Link-up, so make sure you come back to add your link to your website, blog, or social media. We all should share and help promote each other 🙂
Thanks for dropping by, I appreciate you ALL!
Ciao!
Cindy Williams
You did a fabulous job on those boots! It was great to hear about your day and I understand about being intimidated by other artists but we all buckle down and you know what – I bet someof them are looking at our work and thinking the same thing – keep up the good work!
Thank you Val I think WE place limitations on ourselves, and probably no one thinks anything like we THINK they are… Thank you 🙂
This really is fantastic Cindy. All that practise is paying off big time.
Thanks Sea.
Awesome Cindy and high five! You look good my friend. I hope that means you are feeling almost back to your old self 🙂 Happy painting 🙂
