This work in progress is taking a while. But it's coming together. I had done this before in a smaller version but I didn't like it. So now, this is going to be a 16x12" pastel painting, and it is forming a bit better.
I hope today finds you healthy and happy. Thanks for dropping by, I appreciate you all! Cindy
Meet "The Girl From Mexico". Lupe Vélez. She was nicknamed the "Mexican Spitfire" and she was a silent film DIVA (Of course 🙂 ).
Lupe Vélez starred in a film "The Girl from Mexico" and then went on to star in several other films, called the Spitfire series. You can read more about her on the Wikipedia website. I have a small exhibit starting today (as it is 5 am) ... I started painting this at 9pm last night... made it to about 12, fell asleep for a couple of hours, woke up and started painting again. I wanted a new painting for my exhibit. It is only exhibiting for the Public Library in Droitwich but it will be on show for 2 weeks (Through Saturday, 2 April). So if you are in the area (Droitwich Spa, Worcestershire, UK), please drop by and check it out, the library is really nice too. Thank you for dropping by, I appreciate all my readers! Cindy Williams
Is this really ONLY Day 24 of the 30 Day Art Challenge?! ARGH! I think it is the pressure of trying to get painting every single day, that is getting on my nerves. And you know, THAT is exactly what I want to do, PAINT EVERY DAY! Maybe I am having withdrawals of the TV or just not doing anything. Maybe I am lazy. Maybe I just feel very tired when I get home from work and don't really feel like doing anything else. (BINGO!) I have been working on my latest painting, and I changed it a bit. YES I will do it over again, I think. I like the whole painting like I drew yesterday, but you know... I messed up on it a bit. Hey thank goodness for using paper, I just cut the excess off and made it a different size 🙂 HERE is the link for SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION so if you haven't put your link on it, do it now, because after today, I will close the list and there will be no more opportunities until next time. So get your link on there today 🙂
I hope you all are staying warm. Thank you for dropping by, I appreciate you! Ciao for now, Cindy
This is Day 19 of the Art challenge. Yes I keep changing the reference... Painting challenge, art challenge, etc. It depends how I feel and what I am working on haha. My flower painting friend Sheila Delgado shares everything. She shares her triumphs, her mess ups (however they never look messed up to me 🙂 ) and she is very brave to put it all out there for us to see. Well, I have taken a page from her book, I am sharing even though I don't really want to. I miscalculated and it didnt turn out like I wanted. I am drawing lots of paintings first then going to paint them. It may seem I am procrastinating on finishing. Well, you are right! I am doing these for future shows. That is why I am going slow, I dont want to mess up. I had to use a little app to darken it. I moved it over too far to the left, which I should have moved it to the right. Well tonight at our painting group, Im going to try this again. It will be easier to start over than to erase all of it. However this drawing gave me lots of ideas! So maybe you will be seeing some new and different art from this studio. Maybe. You might. 🙂 If I get it drawn again you will see it my next post. Thanks for dropping by. Cindy Williams
This 3-D Diva was SO MUCH FUN! I know it doesn't look much here, but in person, it's pretty cool. 🙂 I tried to capture it the best I could, and then my camera batteries died! So I had to use my phone, which the camera isn't that great, but I will certainly be doing more of these 🙂
I hope you are able to see the "3D" of this drawing. I drew it with graphite pencils, then I used some Graphtint pencils. And also I used pastels on this painting. To take pics of it I had to get really close to the wall, underneath the painting. Seeing it in real life though up close, it is better to close one eye and you will be able to see the 3D effect. I also found that if you make a little circle with your thumb and forefinger and look through with one eye open, it will also show the 3D effect better. This is just a practice and I hope you have enjoyed something different. I endeavor to improve 🙂 (This is Artwork #11 in the 30 day painting challenge.) Thank you for dropping by, I really appreciate you all. Cindy
